ACID 6: Camera Van

Today's ACID explores the manifestation of a dream. In 1993, Harrod Blank dreamt of a functioning automobile covered completely in cameras that captured the vehicle's surroundings on film. Upon waking, Blank decided that he wanted to make this dream a reality. With a variety of Polaroid, antique, and operational cameras "painting" every surface, the Camera Van was completed and ready for its first voyage in 1995. On first look, people believe the cameras are nothing more than art. However, Blank is able to secretly capture the experience of onlookers with the push of a dashboard button. The passenger side of the van features four monitors in which Blank can broadcast anything that he wishes--from a medley of his favorite movies to footage captured by the Camera Van--while 36 separate slide viewers offer a sampling of the photographs captured throughout the Van's history.
