Blame Canada
James Southern Blames Jews; I Blame Canada
1. Another Viral Lie
In May 2025, a viral claim spread across social media: 15 episodes of South Park are going to be banned from Paramount+. A list of episodes circulated widely, sometimes citing The A.V. Club, sometimes without any source.
[For those who can’t read until the end, there is no confirmation of this ban from Paramount itself. In reality, three episodes depicting Islam were banned for decades. The one episode about Jews was not banned.]
The episodes on the list include (and groups they focus on):
Big Gay Al's Big Boat Ride (LGBTQ+, Homophobia)
Terrance and Phillip in Not Without My Anus (Middle Eastern stereotypes, crude humor)
Pip (British literature, classism)
Super Best Friends (Religions (Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, etc.))
Jared Has Aides (AIDS crisis, nonprofit charities)
Simpsons Did It (Pop culture, Simpsons)
Cancelled (Pop culture, Simpsons)
Passion of the Jew (Jews, Christians, antisemitism)
You Got F'd in the A (Dance culture, violence in youth)
Two Days Before the Day After Tomorrow (Climate change denial, mass panic)
Trapped in the Closet (Scientology, Tom Cruise)
Cartoon Wars Part I & II (Islam, censorship, media cowardice)
200/201 (Islam, celebrities, censorship, antisemitism)
Jewpacabra (Passover, antisemitism, supernatural myths)
Ginger Cow (Religious coexistence, messianic prophecy)
These episodes satirize a range of topics—Christianity, Islam, homophobia, climate change panic, Hollywood, Scientology, antisemitism and scapegoating Jews, and, yes, Jews. Of the 15, only one focuses on Jewish folklore (Jewpacabra), and three more involve antisemitism—but primarily to mock antisemites, not Jews themselves.
I’m a South Park fan. Every episode has Cartman poke fun of Kyle for being Jewish. Nothing is particular “gay” or “Jew-y” about the list of banned episodes. I invite you to watch each of the listed episodes if you don’t believe me. Hell, go watch the Grups episode of Star Trek TOS and Video Nasties, and see how deep British censorship goes of media, including social media. People can focus on real problems, like a porn obssessed culture afraid of nudity on TV, before imagining problems.
2. Lies Lead to Scapegoats
The noise of an anti-censorship show being censored naturally prompted ire from both fans and people who never watched the show, but felt like voicing their angry opinions. Someone scrolling through comments might note the common use of the word “gay,” likely a reference to the show’s infamous use of the word to mean “lame,” not a homophobic slur. That same person would hopefully notice the open antisemitism in other comments, obscuring if people are referencing the show, or presenting the homophobic and antisemitic scapegoating all too common online.
Hundreds of commenters took to social media to blame Jews for an alleged censorship. These responses echoed tired antisemitic tropes: that Jews "control the media," are "afraid of being laughed at," have disproportionate control and large noses. Aside from every Mel Brooks movie, every Woody Allen movie, Borat, Seinfeld, Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Transparent, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Family Guy, The Nanny, 30 Rock, Entourage, Big Mouth, Girls, Will & Grace, Bored to Death, High Maintenance, The Larry Sanders Show, Weeds, The Critic, Friends, The Rehearsal, The League, etc when were Jews ever made fun of? [/s]
Others tried an inverse approach, insisting on a lie that no episodes involving Christians were banned. The episode “Passion of the Jew,” pokes fun at the close proximity of far-right Christians and Nazis, as proof that they are just lying.
Few people called out the bigotry, and those who did were dismissed as "bots," the go-to insult of terminally online people with a deep obsession over Jewish existence.
Here’s some of the Jew obsessed comments I screenshotted over 5 minutes of scrolling:
Dominic Tomasello (domtomasello on IG), “Only the episodes really ripping on {jews} interesting
Brandon Tooth (gingerdovahkiin on IG), “Notice its the jew episodes”
Conn Williams (ozgarami on IG), "Jews are gay, paramount is owned by gay Jews. Figure it out yourselves."
Austin Moody (autin__09 on IG), "The Jews strike again"
Austen (sloth.commando9 on IG), "Notice a bunch of episodes about jews are taken down. (They don't have disproportionate power)”
Zach Papenberg (solinvictus.69 on IG), "ironic that most of these episodes have to do with Antisemitism... hmm why do you think massive media conglomerates would ban that?"
Ethan Ryan, (og.ryan_ on IG), "All these episodes have antisemitic premises or jokes in them btw"
2a. James Southern’s Response
As I screenshotted the comments, I noted one came from an account with nearly half a million followers. Musician James Southern wrote, “Jewish-owned networks banning Jewish satire episodes. Sad day for comedy.” This framing of course plays into the conspiracy that Jews both dominate and censor media.
To be generous, perhaps Southern meant it ironically. Maybe he thought he was defending Jewish humor and the brilliant comedy Jews of Hollywood have provided for a century, btw, another thing South Park has commented on. Maybe he was nodding to the fact that Jewish immigrants helped build Hollywood after being excluded from other industries. He was just pulling a ‘Brando on Larry King!’
While I’m not buying it, I’d give James Southern the benefit of the doubt before the thousands claiming ‘they love Jews, just not when they have a state.’ You can interpret James’ comment yourself.
3. The Boring Truth
An article by HWAD.tv points out there is no evidence of a Paramount+ ban. The episodes listed were either previously pulled over legal or safety concerns or were never removed at all. There was never a statement or press release that prompted this conspiracy.
And real South Park fans knew this for decades: Episodes depicting Muhammad were banned by Comedy Central and streaming services long ago. These episodes led to violent threats. A real censorship history would focus on the episodes “Super Best Friends” and "200/201" and events like the Charlie Hebdo massacre, where censorship was driven by real threat from Islamist retaliation. None of this points to Muslim or Islamists controlling the media, just that there is one thing nobody jokes about on TV. [For more on the forbidden topic, read my article on Dave Chappelle being a whiny bitch who punches down at Jews, but never once commented on his own religion.]
What’s most baffling about the jump for Palestine Supporters and far-right Christians to scapegoat Jews for TV censorship is that Matt Stone, who co-created South Park, and who leads the current development, is Jewish. In fact, Matt Stone is one of the clearest voices against censorship. Few celebs have a more consistent record of standing against censorship, supporting jokes about all groups, including marginalized groups. The show has made its name satirizing everyone, including Jews. This message must have gone over the Jew obsessed freaks featured above.
In regards to James Southern's callous comment, yes, Jews built Hollywood. That doesn't mean they control it today. It certainly doesn’t mean me, a Jew with 200 followers, has any say in Paramount+ decisions. James Southern is ironically echoing a South Park episode, Cupid Ye, where the town demands Kyle helps them build their various projects. They just blindly insist Kyle must be connected to Hollywood. Matt Stone responds to this bigotted idea brilliantly, vicariously using Kyle, “So what if Jews are overrepresented in Hollywood? They made all the good movies!”
Paramount was founded by Adolph Zukor, a Jew who produced excellent movies. It is now ran predominately not by Jews, and produces garbage. Warner Bros, Universal, Columbia, MGM and 20th Century Fox were also founded by Jews, also produced great movies, and then taken over by gentiles who produced garabage movies. A Jew probably made your favorite movie, such as: Star Wars, E.T., Jaws, Indiana Jones, Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, The Matrix, X-Men, Iron Man, Spider-Man (2002), Everything Everywhere All At Once, Casablanca, The Godfather, Schindler’s List, A Beautiful Mind, No Country for Old Men, The Social Network, Marriage Story, Annie Hall, Manhattan, Crimes and Misdemeanors, Blazing Saddles, Spaceballs, The Producers, Superbad, Knocked Up, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, When Harry Met Sally, Tootsie, Airplane!, Chinatown, Se7en, Fight Club, The Big Lebowski, Fargo, L.A. Confidential, West Side Story (1961), West Side Story (2021), Fiddler on the Roof, Funny Girl, The Jazz Singer… again, I can go on.
If people are honest about the modern Hollywood landscape, Jewish influence is being erased. The Jews are being censored, not doing the censorship. Hollywood museums now omit key Jewish founders (see “The Motion Picture Academy Museum Erased Jews, So Did The Smithsonian”). Awards shows in recent years have openly honored films and figures promoting violence against Jews they deem as living in the wrong place, or at the wrong time. While Jews wereforbidden from wearing hostage pins on red carpets, non-Jews like Mark Ruffalo and Billie Eilish wore pins celebrating the lynching of Jews in Ramallah. Mel Gibson is still making movies FFS.
The bottom line is that there doesn’t need to be truth in a claim for people to jump on it, especially the terminally online. And Jews are always the first to be blamed, even when it makes no sense. Jews are the canary in the coal mine. If any of these people were real South Park fans, they’d know better than to blame Jews for censorship or the downfall of Hollywood. Instead, they’d blame Canada.
